Fashion in Ketchum

“ Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, and what is happening.”- Coco Chanel…

It is one of my favorite quotes. I think it is the best description of fashion and it also has so much to do with our K-town. Everything about it is fashion. Someone once told me that this place is like a hidden heaven. All the beautiful fall colors, the sky, the smell of the air, the snow on the top of the mountains. And it is so quiet.

It is a great weather for a walk, hike or a bike ride. Enjoy one of these days wearing our black Seven for all Mankind Gweneveres, cream with gold stripes LinQ sweater and high knee boots. Take your favorite book, a cup of hot chocolate (or latte and be fashionable) And if you feel like company have your man wear our William Rast Ben straight leg jeans, (Melanie's boyfriend owns a pair and they are one of his favorites because the comfort of the denim is to die for) one of the many Alternative tees under the great Seven For All Mankind suede jacket!

You can find all these beautiful pieces and accessories at Ketchum Dry Goods! Come on in! Be open-minded! And when you walk into one of our fitting rooms, please, don’t have a set fit, because your fashion life begins here!

I hope everybody is having a great fall! Stop by when you have a minute because we are always here for you. And also, don’t forget: We are shaped and fashioned by what we love!

Until next time,

The KDG Crew rocks fall fashion at Sawtooth Club!

Tonight the KDG Crew is heading out for a night on the town!!! We are hitting the Sawtooth Club on Main Street decked in Fall Fashion's best.

Jay is rocking the layered look, wearing a micro geometric print Shirt by Shirt button-down layered over a Velvet Men crew neck and a long sleeve v-neck tee. Jay is also wearing some great dark washed boot-cut Kasil jeans! Keep your eyes peeled for these, we'll be getting more Kasil denim in again soon!! They fit really well and flew out the door for us! We can't wait to get 'em in!

Inga is working the skinny embellished jeans tucked into boots look with a cute jacket and scarf! We have some GREAT embellished denim in the store right now from 7 for all Mankind! My favorites being the new faded black straight leg with black studding on the back pocket and the 777 series white skinny with hand finished bead and patch work! (777 series is a limeted run of hand finished pieces, only 777 in the world and we have a handful so get 'em while we got 'em!)

Melanie is wearing the new William Rast savoy straight leg jeans that we got in! These jeans are H-O-T!!! Faded black wash with bleaching details on the pockets! She is also rocking the cute new 7 for all Mankind long sweater that we got in! This has thick stripes with grays, maroons and golds! She wore a cute gold toned tan turtleneck tee from French Connection under the sweater and piled on tons of cute necklaces! We have some really amazing necklaces and earring on the way from a new artist located in Portland called Stringtusk! We'll keep you posted on their arrival!

I will be in skinny gray 7 for all Mankind Gweneveres and a soft jersey baby-doll tee. We have some A-M-A-Z-I-N-G tees from Michael Stars and cute baby-doll styles that add a little dressy quality to the humble t-shirt! We also have great Alternative Apparel tees in right now. I am loving the burnout crews, they pair well layered under cardigans and soft cashmere sweaters! I NEVER go anywhere without a yummy soft scarf!(and my purple heels of course) We have some really great Michael Stars scarves in right now AND we have the cutest knit Lucky Brand scarf, on sale!!

So off we all go decked in our KDG Goods, ready for fall and fellowship (and a great dinner!) at the Sawtooth Club!

Ciao for Now-
Your fashionable foodie and Goods girl- Dana

Winter comes to Ketchum on silent feet as the world is quieted with a blanket of snow.

The seasons have rapidly changed and with them comes a call for a change of wardrobe. Gone is the time of shorts, crops, bare legs, short sleeved shirts and tanks; while the time for jackets, sweaters, scarves, gloves, long sleeved shirts, jeans, slacks and leggings has come. Rather than lamenting the loss of the long, warm days and the opportunity to show some skin, we should embrace the seasonal transition by looking forward to the many opportunities it provides us to vary our routines and our look. Presented to us now is the chance to exercise some real creativity in how we dress. Never before has the opportunity to layer, and thus mix it up, been so abundant.

For the fairest of the genders, whether the look starts with a chunky scarf complimented by a shaped, biker jacket over a flouncy neo-bohemian top, which is worn back to a fitted pencil skirt, that is being worn over a pair of ponti leggings that have been tucked inside a calf high boot; or a fringed, light weight scarf worn kerchief style with slouchy boyfriend blazer that is layered over a tailored blouse and a pair of ankle zip skinny jeans (destructed or otherwise) and pumps, there have never been more possibilities! And, the options abound in accessories, as well. There are limitless choices when it comes to acceptable handbag styles, and a veritable cornucopia of jewelery possibilities be it bangles or cuffs, chunky or dainty, antiqued or polished, metals, stones, leathers or fabrics... anything goes!

And, for the guys, plaids and flannels are back! I'm not talking the grundged up look of days gone by, I'm talking about far superior fabrications, including some amazing double faced offerings; and cleaner, more tailored, lines. The entire men's silhouette is moving towards a slightly slimmer profile - from straight leg jeans and pants that follow the leg line in a "close, but comfortable" manner, but which are not "tight"; to shirts, blazers and outerwear which compliment a man's physique (i.e. broad shoulders, smaller waist - or at least give the illusion of such), and that are not "boxy". The level of engineering that is involved in today's patterning and construction, in conjuction with the quality and technical aspects of the fabrications, allows men greater ability to compliment and flatter their bodies while maining levels of comfort that were previously not possible in tailored menswear. Again, guys, think layers! At least give yourself the appearance of having some depth and style - it's not that difficult, trust me! If you're at a loss, just swing by - we're here to help.

So, throw some logs on the fire and make a nice cup (or two) of hot chocolate (stiffened or otherwise), or maybe pour glass of red wine, or brandy, or cognac... and embrace the Winter for all that it is - and can be.

I hope to see you here - in one of the most beautiful places that you could hope to spend any of your Winter (or Summer) moments. I'll even pour you that glass of wine, or make you that cup of hot chocolate, just stop by Ketchum Dry Goods, introduce yourself, and if I don't offer, just ask.

Happy Winter~
